New York City New Bauhaus
The New York City New Bauhaus Project: A Geometric Abstract Digital Art series inspired by the Bauhaus and New York City.
NEW BAUHAUS NEW YORK CITY
Art, Architecture, and Technology
My digital abstracts are a unique fusion of the intricate geometries of the built environment and traces of the past. In my "New Bauhaus New York City” project (2021 - Present), I delve into the layers of landscape, culture, and humanity, exploring a captivating fusion of major European trans-artistic movements with the unique dynamism of American art.
One notable chapter, focused on the “Oculus,” reinterprets Santiago Calatrava's iconic structure, emphasizing geometric forms that embody the Bauhaus style while integrating distinct American nuances. This reinterpretation signifies my evolution as an artist, transitioning from pure photography to the realm of digital collages. By transforming photographs of significant architectural landmarks in New York City—such as the building's wing or an abstract front view—into integral components of my compositions, I elevate these elements from mere references to recognizable touch points to the world around us.
